VIRGINIA BEACH POLICE ADD A SCAM ALERT LINK FOR CITIZENS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES

 

The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Economic Crime Unit (ECU) has made Fraud Alerts and Economic Crime trends available to the public.  Supervisors and detectives in the ECU felt there was a need for the public to have a place readily available on the VBPD web site to help citizens protect themselves from potential scammers and identify theft thieves.

 

The unit currently has three Fraud Alert warnings ...

 

On 11/23/09 between 750am and 515pm a home was broken into in the 1100 block of Clydesdale Ln. The Victim returned home and found the front door unlocked and the inside ransacked. It appears entry was gained through the rear patio door. The suspect(s)also took property.

Burglary in Green Run on 10/29/09

 

On 10/29/09 between 730am-600pm a Burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Rexmore Ln. (Green Run). Victim returned from work and noticed his bedroom light on and property missing from several rooms. There was no sign of forced entry and entry is believed to be through the doggie door. Neighbors observed a white male walking around the area ringing doorbells.
